Today, the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) celebrates its 30th anniversary. The Swiss Federal Council Johann Schneider-Ammann, Aargau Government Council Dr. Urs Hofmann, and many representatives from the world of science, industry, and politics who have always supported the Institute came to Villigen to express their best wishes and to remember some of the PSI’s biggest scientific achievements.

The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. It operates a unique complex of large research facilities including the Swiss Light Source (SLS), Swiss X-ray Free Electron Laser (SwissFEL), Swiss Spallation Neutron Source (SINQ), Swiss Muon Source (SμS), and the high-intensity proton accelerator (HIPA). "PSI is like a swiss knife for science" compared the Institute its director Dr. Joël Mesot. Its unique infrastructure opens unlimited opportunities for cutting-edge research and industrial collaborations in fields of materials science, human health, and energy and environment. From unprecedented insights into the structure of proteins to advance non-destructive testings of microchips and energy research, the fundamental research is often translated into products and solutions that change our everyday life.

PSI is more than ever committed to bringing fundamental research forward in particular in connection to the digitalization, as one of the most important trends today. The Institute is devoted to foster further collaborations with the industry and technology transfer.

We at PARK INNOVAARE join in congratulating the PSI with this milestone and looking forward to future joint projects.
