Switzerland has some of the world's best research centers and universities. It has been the site of discoveries and technology developments that are paving the wayfor many innovative products and solutions. To ensure the flow of knowledge from academia to industry, reinforce collaborations between entrepreneurs and scientists, and foster innovation, we at PARK INNOVAARE are helping all kinds of companies connect the dots and navigate both the world of science and the world of business. At PARK INNOVAARE, we accelerate innovation!
WHAT DO WE DO
We provide academic spin-offs, high-tech start-ups, and R&D-oriented SMEs and big companies, both domestic and foreign, with targeted and continuous support in settlement and business development, R&D project realization, interdisciplinary collaborations, and networking. Focusing on specific technology and innovation areas, including but not limited to early-stage drug discovery, proton therapy treatment, medtech, imaging technologies, nanomaterials, battery technologies, power-to-gas, cleantech, and precise engineering, we tailor our services to your company's specific needs and help you find the right know-how in a fast and timely manner.
PARK INNOVAARE is located on the campus of the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI, Switzerland's biggest research center for natural and engineering sciences, operating a unique complex of large research facilities (particle accelerators, prototype-testing and industrialisation platforms). The proximity of world-leading expertise in accelerator and related technologies provides the companies located at PARK INNOVAARE with a competitive advantage as they can benefit from the know-how unavailable elsewhere. This know-how can be applied to R&D in the fields of life science, material science, energy, engineering, and more.
As a meeting place for science and the market, academic and industrial research, and interdisciplinary and cross-functional innovations, PARK INNOVAARE has great networking potential. This is a result of a strong network of leading research institutes, universities, industry representatives, and governmental bodies.
PARK INNOVAARE works closely with leading universities and research and training institutes, such as the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI, which is home to the largest natural sciences research center in Switzerland, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW), and other universities such as ETH Zurich or the University of Basel. In addition, PSI and FHWN collaborate closely with several highly specialized research institutes, including the Swiss Nanoscience Institute (SNI); the Institute of Polymer Nanotechnology (INKA); the Plastics Training and Technology Center (KATZ); Empa, which each has a strong focus on materials research; the FHNW School of Life Sciences, which specializes in pharmaceutical discoveries; and the Swiss Competence Center for Energy Research (SCCER). This thriving academic environment with a wealth of available technology and leading experts opens up multiple opportunities for technology-oriented companies.
PARK INNOVAARE enjoys strong support from international companies and innovative SMEs such as Dectris AG, Siegfried AG, and Jura Materials; industrial R&D leaders, such as ABB, GE, and Swisscom; well-known financial institutions, including Aargauische Kantonal Bank and Neuer Aargauer Bank; and highly specialized service providers and suppliers.
PARK INNOVAARE benefits from the active support of the Canton of Aargau, the municipalities of Villigen and Würenlingen, cantonal institutions, and industry organizations such as the Aargau Chamber of Industry and Commerce (AIHK), the Aargau Trade Association (AGV) and others. Cantonal economic promotion agency Aargau Services advises and assists companies with relocation, formation, financing, and location questions. Thanks to the Canton’s high-tech strategy, PARK INNOVAARE benefits from a wide network of innovation and technology transfer platforms, such as the Hightech Zentrum Aargau or TECHNOPARK® Aargau.
The site is situated in the canton of Aargau, one of the country’s economically strongest regions. It has also an above-average proportion of high-tech companies, ranging from internationally aligned industrial corporations to highly specialized SMEs, mainly active in six industries: energy and electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, plastics, mechanical engineering and the metal industry, and information and communication technology.
The canton is also home to several leading research institutions and universities. The biggest is the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI with its unique complex of large research facilities. Located on the PSI campus, PARK INNOVAARE thus benefits from a scientifically rich and economically prosperous environment.
Finally, the canton of Aargau has excellent transport connections and proximity to other large Swiss economic and scientific hubs such as Zurich and Basel. This makes the location easily accessible, fully integrating it into Switzerland's industrial landscape. Altogether, the canton provides the ideal breeding ground for the transfer of technology.
